We at Eden Health and Fitness have put together these simple tips to help you get started (and stick with!) a new exercise programme.GOALS:Set short term, achievable goals – it’s always more satisfying to over achieve than under achieve. Tell your friends and family what your fitness goals are too – a good one is to visit the gym at least twice a week for 6 six weeks - it’s a great way to keep focused and motivated. FRIENDS:Exercise with a friend or partner – it makes the activity more fun and also provides great motivation. SHOES:Invest in a good pair of trainers. They are the most important piece of fitness kit you will need – supporting your feet and helping prevent injuries. HYDRATION:Drink plenty of water. When you exercise you will sweat (sorry ladies it’s inevitable) and as a result your body will become dehydrated. It’s important that you replenish lost fluids during and after exercise. HAVE FUN:Working out does not have to be boring. Speak to a member of the Fitness Team ask them about a new exercise program. If you are working out with a friend have a little competition between you – If you make keeping fit more fun you are more likely to stick with it! DIARY:Eden Health and Fitness provides you with your own exercise programme card and two personal exercise inductions every 14 workouts. We advise that you take advantage of our workout cards and make a note of your workouts in the same way you do for other activities in your life. Plan the number of times a week you are going to exercise in advance and work it around your everyday routine. BE REALISTIC:Don’t try to do too much too soon. Start slowly and build up gradually. Once or twice a week (1-2 hours per week) is achievable and sustainable in your efforts of achieving a healthier lifestyle. MEET THE PROFESSIONALS:Book in for regular exercise inductions with a member of the Fitness Team. Our team at Eden will make sure that your workout programme develops with your improving level of fitness. REWARDS:Give yourself rewards and encouragement for your achievements... a new “smaller” item of clothing is always gratifying. STICK WITH IT:MOST IMPORTANTLY... DON’T GIVE UP!
